Dr. Mikao Usui & the Reiki Lineage
Reiki as we practice it today traces its rediscovery to Dr. Mikao Usui — a Japanese scholar who spent many years researching the healing ministries of great healers, including Jesus and the Buddha. His findings gave birth to the modern system of Usui Reiki.

Formal students of Usui Mikao documented his precepts, waka poetry, meditations, and teachings. The oral tradition was passed from Reiki Master to student, together with a simple set of Reiki ideals that remain central to the practice today.
