Your Body Is a Living Solar System
INFINITE ENERGY SOURCE · KEN BREEN
The same cosmic forces that govern the heavens move through you. Each of your seven chakras is ruled by a planetary intelligence — and when you align with that intelligence, transformation becomes inevitable.
THE COSMIC BLUEPRINT
As Above, So Below
Ancient Vedic seers and Hermetic philosophers arrived at the same truth independently: the structure of the cosmos is reflected within the human body. The seven visible celestial bodies — the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn — each govern one of the seven primary chakras,
your spinning wheels of life-force energy.
Your chakras do not operate in isolation from the universe. They are intimate expressions of it. Every planet in our solar system transmits a specific quality of consciousness — a vibrational signature — and each chakra is a receiver attuned to one of those frequencies. When a planet is strong, well-aspected, or cosmically highlighted, the chakra it governs hums with greater vitality. When a planet is challenged or suppressed, the corresponding energy centre may contract, stagnate, or cry out for healing.
Think of your body not as a sealed container of flesh and bone, but as a radiant energy field in constant dialogue with the cosmos. You are not separate from the stars — you are made of the same light, vibrating at the same frequencies, governed by the same universal intelligence I call the Infinite Energy Source.

COSMIC POLARITY
Active, Receptive & Neutral — The Three Planetary Currents
Just as all creation arises from the dance of masculine and feminine forces, the planetary rulers of the chakras carry distinct energetic polarities. Understanding these currents helps you choose the right practices, timing, and intention for your healing work.
ACTIVE · MASCULINE
The Sun & Mars
Solar, yang, outward-moving energy. Initiating, courageous, wilful. These planets build structure in the world and ignite the fire of action. They govern our physical vitality and sense of self.
RECEPTIVE · FEMININE
The Moon & Venus
Lunar, yin, inward-flowing energy. Nurturing, intuitive, relational. These planets soften, open, and receive. They govern our emotional depth, creativity, and capacity for love.
NEUTRAL · INTEGRATIVE
Mercury, Jupiter & Saturn
These androgynous planets balance and bridge. Mercury weaves intellect; Jupiter expands wisdom; Saturn grounds and disciplines. Together they integrate the masculine and feminine into unified consciousness.
Each of us carries all three currents within our energy field. Wholeness does not mean choosing one over the other — it means becoming a living bridge between all three. The chakra system, when fully activated, does precisely this: it unifies solar fire, lunar flow, and the still, witnessing intelligence at the crown.
THE SEVEN PAIRINGS
Planetary Rulers of the Seven Chakras
Each chakra–planet pair is an entire universe of practice, symbolism, and healing potential.
Here I offer you the living map — from the red earth of the root to the violet light of the crown.
Root Chakra · Muladhara
♂ Planetary Ruler: Mars
Mars, the planet of courage, vitality, and decisive action, anchors itself at the very base of your spine — the foundation of your entire energy system. Muladhara governs survival, safety, and your right to take up space on this earth. A strong Mars here means you move through the world with fearless embodiment: grounded, dynamic, and fully present in your physicality.
When Mars energy flows freely through the Root, you wake each morning with the enthusiasm of a child discovering life anew. When it is blocked, you may experience chronic fear, financial insecurity, physical depletion, or an inability to take action even when you can see clearly what needs to be done. Signs of imbalance: Fear, fatigue, lower back pain, financial anxiety, disconnection from the body.

When it is blocked, you may experience chronic fear, financial insecurity, physical depletion, or an inability to take action even when you can see clearly what needs to be done. Signs of imbalance: Fear, fatigue, lower back pain, financial anxiety, disconnection from the body.
- Barefoot earthing on grass, soil, or beach sand — let Mars-ruled earth energy rise through the soles of your feet
- Chant the seed mantra LAM or the Vedic Mars mantra Om Mangalaya Namaha
- Work with red or black stones: Red Jasper, Black Tourmaline, Hematite, or Red Coral
- Physical movement: strength training, drumming, vigorous yoga
- Reiki focused on the base of the spine and legs — grounding life-force into the physical body
Sacral Chakra · Svadhishthana
♀ Planetary Ruler: Venus
Venus, the great planet of beauty, love, and creative pleasure, governs the sacral centre — your seat of desire, sensuality, artistic flow, and emotional intelligence. Svadhishthana is where your life force becomes personal: it moves from pure survival (Root) into the realm of meaning-making, relationship, and creation.
When Venus flows through a clear Sacral Chakra, you are magnetic, creatively inspired, and capable of deep, nurturing intimacy. Life tastes rich. Beauty moves you. Art, music, water — all become portals to the sacred. When Venus is blocked here, you may feel emotionally numb, creatively dry, or locked in codependent patterns.
Signs of imbalance: Creative blocks, guilt, relational struggles, emotional volatility, reproductive challenges.
- Water rituals: intentional bathing, immersion in natural water, or charging water with rose quartz before drinking
- Chant VAM or the Venus mantra Om Shukraya Namaha
- Wear or meditate with Carnelian, Moonstone, Orange Calcite, or White Opal
- Creative expression: painting, dance, singing, cooking with love
- Hip-opening yoga postures; gentle womb-space Reiki healing
Solar Plexus Chakra · Manipura
☀ Planetary Ruler: The Sun
The Sun — the very source of life in our solar system — governs your personal power centre. Manipura is your inner sun: the seat of will, confidence, self-worth, and sovereign identity. Just as the Sun holds all the planets in orbit through its gravitational field, a strong Solar Plexus holds your energy, your decisions, and your direction together with clarity and authority.
When the Sun shines freely through Manipura, you act from a place of authentic power — not ego domination, but radiant self-knowledge. You know who you are. You do not collapse under external pressure or lose yourself in others' narratives. When Manipura is dimmed, self-doubt, digestive weakness, and a tendency to give your power away become the patterns.
Signs of imbalance: Low self-esteem, control issues, digestive disorders, victim consciousness, inability to complete goals.
- Sunrise meditation — face east and breathe in solar prana directly through the navel centre
- Chant RAM or the Sun mantra Om Suryaya Namaha
- Yellow and golden stones: Citrine, Tiger's Eye, Yellow Jasper, Sunstone
- Breathwork: Kapalabhati (skull-shining breath) to stoke the inner fire
- Core-activating yoga; Reiki to the solar plexus and navel region
Heart Chakra · Anahata
☽ Planetary Ruler: The Moon
The Moon governs the tides, the cycles of growth and release, and the deep emotional currents of the unconscious mind. At the Heart Chakra, this translates into your capacity for compassion, empathy, forgiveness, and unconditional love. Anahata is the bridge of your entire chakra system — it unites the three lower (earth, instinct, will) with the three higher (voice, vision, spirit). The heart is where human becomes divine.
When the Moon flows freely here, you love openly without the fear of loss. You can feel deeply without being overwhelmed. You extend compassion to yourself as readily as you do to others. A blocked Anahata often traces back to grief, betrayal, or the unconscious belief that love must be earned.
Signs of imbalance: Grief, isolation, jealousy, loneliness, difficulty giving or receiving love, heart and lung tension.
- Full Moon heart meditation — sit under moonlight, hand on heart, breathing love into the chest space
- Chant YAM or the Anahata activation mantra Om Namah Shivaya
- Green and pink crystals: Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, Malachite, Jade
- Practice Ho'oponopono: "I love you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you."
- Heart-centred Reiki, Love Breath Activation, and sound healing with the F-note crystal bowl
Throat Chakra · Vishuddha
☿ Planetary Ruler: Mercury
Mercury — the planet of intellect, communication, and the swift movement of thought — governs Vishuddha, your centre of authentic expression and creative intelligence. Mercury serves as a bridge between the spirit, matter, and mind, carrying pure knowledge from the higher realms into articulate, embodied speech. When Vishuddha is open, your words carry weight and your truth lands with clarity.
This chakra governs not only how you speak outwardly, but how clearly you hear your own inner guidance. A clear Throat Chakra means you live in alignment with your word — you speak what you mean and mean what you speak. When blocked, words become weapons of self-suppression: you swallow your truth and lose creative vitality.
Signs of imbalance: Chronic throat issues, inability to speak truth, fear of self-expression, creative stagnation, over-talking or silence.
- Chanting, toning, mantra practice — specifically the seed mantra HAM
- Mercury mantra: Om Budhaya Namaha — recite 27 or 108 times
- Blue stones: Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli, Blue Lace Agate, Aquamarine
- Journaling and conscious storytelling — giving authentic voice to your inner world
- Sound healing with the G-note crystal bowl; Reiki to the throat and neck
Third Eye Chakra · Ajna
♄ Planetary Ruler: Saturn
Saturn — the great teacher, the planet of discipline, structure, and the mastery that comes through time — governs your Third Eye. This may seem counterintuitive: we associate the Third Eye with mysticism and vision. But Saturn teaches us that genuine inner sight is the reward of sustained practice, honest self-examination, and the willingness to see reality as it truly is — not as we wish it to be.
When Saturn aligns with Ajna, you possess penetrating wisdom, clear discernment, and the ability to perceive patterns invisible to ordinary awareness. Your intuition is grounded, not fanciful. Saturn at the Third Eye asks: are you willing to see the truth, even when it is uncomfortable? That willingness is what opens the inner eye.
Signs of imbalance: Overthinking, illusion, inability to trust intuition, nightmares, rigid beliefs, difficulty visualising.
- Silent sitting meditation — dark room, eyes closed, gentle attention at the brow point for 20+ minutes
- Chant AUM or OM; Saturn mantra: Om Shanishcharaya Namaha
- Indigo and purple crystals: Amethyst, Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli, Fluorite
- Dream journalling to receive messages from the deep mind
- Reiki to the brow and pineal centre; fasting as a Saturnian purification practice
Crown Chakra · Sahasrara
♃ Planetary Ruler: Jupiter
Jupiter — the great expander, the planet of wisdom, divine grace, and limitless possibility — presides over Sahasrara, your thousand-petalled lotus at the crown of the skull. This is the chakra of pure consciousness, the point where individual awareness dissolves into universal awareness. The Sahasrara is not just the highest chakra — it is the integration of all chakras, the point through which cosmic intelligence pours into the human system.
When Jupiter blesses the Crown, you experience life as a series of synchronicities, as divinely orchestrated lessons and gifts. Spiritual understanding comes effortlessly. You feel connected to something far greater than your personal story — to the Infinite Energy Source itself. When blocked, you experience meaninglessness, spiritual disconnection, or the exhausting belief that you must navigate life alone.
Signs of imbalance: Spiritual disconnection, depression, nihilism, chronic confusion, inability to trust the flow of life.
- Crown-opening meditation: visualise a column of violet-white light pouring into the top of the skull
- Chant OM or the Jupiter mantra Om Gurave Namaha — 108 repetitions at sunrise
- Clear and violet crystals: Clear Quartz, Selenite, Amethyst, Lepidolite
- Periods of intentional silence, fasting, and withdrawal from digital stimulation
- Reiki crown activation; group sound healing sessions with the B-note crystal bowl

LIVING THE ALIGNMENT
Daily & Seasonal Practices for Planetary–Chakra Harmony
Ancient wisdom traditions did not separate spiritual practice from the rhythms of the cosmos. Here are the most powerful bridges between planetary intelligence and your living energy field.
Sunrise Solar Practice
Face east at dawn and breathe slowly into the navel centre. The Sun's energy is most potent in the first hour of light. This practice directly charges the Solar Plexus and stimulates the pineal gland through the retinal pathway.
Full Moon Heart Opening
The full Moon amplifies the Heart Chakra's receptive capacity. Sit outdoors or by an open window, hand on chest, and breathe slowly while setting your intention: "I am open to receive and give love freely." Release what the month has held.
New Moon Root Grounding
The new Moon — dark sky, no reflected light — is the ideal time to work with the Root Chakra. Plant intentions in the earth, practice barefoot walking, or commit to a new physical discipline. Mars energy responds to decisive beginnings.
Crystal Bowl Sound Healing
Each of the 7 chakras vibrates at a musical note (C through B). Playing or receiving crystal singing bowl tones directly entrains your chakras to their optimal frequencies, clearing planetary blockages through pure vibrational resonance.
Breathwork by Planetary Day
Each day of the week is governed by a planet. Sunday (Sun/Solar Plexus): vigorous fire breathing. Monday (Moon/Heart): slow, oceanic breath. Tuesday (Mars/Root): grounding ujjayi. Use intentional breath to amplify the day's planetary current.
Gemstone Planetary Alignment
Wearing or meditating with a gemstone ruled by the planet you wish to strengthen creates a resonant field in the corresponding chakra. Red Coral for Mars/Root, Diamond or Rose Quartz for Venus/Sacral, Citrine for Sun/Solar Plexus, and so on.
Planetary Mantra Sadhana
Each planet has a Vedic seed mantra. Chanting 108 repetitions at the hour governed by that planet amplifies the intention exponentially. Use a mala (prayer beads) to keep count, allowing the repetition to dissolve thought and open direct channel to cosmic intelligence.
Reiki Planetary Integration
A Reiki session can be consciously directed through the chakra-planet correspondences — opening sessions during cosmically supportive times, setting an intention aligned with the planetary ruler of the chakra receiving attention. This precision amplifies Reiki's already profound effects.
Intentional Water Ritual
Water holds memory and responds to intention (Dr. Masaru Emoto's research demonstrates this beautifully). Charge your drinking water in moonlight for Heart Chakra work, or in sunlight for Solar Plexus activation. The element itself becomes medicine.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
What I Am Often Asked
What is the connection between planets and chakras?
Each of the seven primary chakras is governed by a celestial body — the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, or Saturn. These planetary rulers share vibrational qualities with their corresponding energy centres, meaning the state of a planet in your birth chart directly influences the openness and health of that chakra. The system is ancient, appearing in Vedic astrology, Hermetic philosophy, and the Kalachakra (Wheel of Time) teachings of Buddhist tantra.
Which planet rules the heart chakra?
In the Vedic tradition represented on this page, the Moon governs the Heart Chakra (Anahata). The Moon rules emotions, intuition, and the capacity for unconditional love — qualities that live at the centre of the chest. Some Western astrological traditions assign Venus to the heart. Both perspectives are valid; Venus brings beauty and relational harmony, while the Moon brings the deeper tidal pull of emotional truth and compassionate knowing. In my practice I work with both.
What are the masculine, feminine and neutral planetary energies?
Mars and the Sun carry active masculine (solar/yang) energy — outward, initiating, and dynamic. They build structure and ignite action. The Moon and Venus carry passive feminine (lunar/yin) energy — receptive, nurturing, and reflective. They govern emotional depth and beauty. Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn are considered neutral or androgynous: they balance and integrate the masculine and feminine currents. Genuine energetic wholeness means developing fluency in all three modes.
How can I use planetary energy to balance my chakras in daily life?
There are many access points: mantra chanting timed to planetary hours and days, working with gemstones attuned to each planet-chakra pair, sunrise and moonlight meditations, colour visualisation using the chakra's colour during breathwork, crystal singing bowl sound healing tuned to each chakra frequency, Reiki sessions, and grounding practices such as barefoot earthing. The key is consistency and intentionality. Even five minutes of focused practice aligned to the right planet and chakra creates measurable energetic shift.
Can a Reiki session help align my planetary chakra energies?
Absolutely. Reiki works directly with the subtle energy body, clearing blockages in each chakra and restoring natural flow between them. When we combine Reiki with awareness of planetary influences — for example, working on the Root Chakra during a Mars-amplified period, or clearing the Heart Chakra in alignment with a Full Moon — the precision of the healing deepens. I often incorporate this awareness into Reiki Synergy Sessions, and I teach this approach in my Level 2 and Master training programmes.
Does my astrological birth chart affect my chakra health?
Yes. Your birth chart is an energetic map of planetary placements at the moment of your first breath — that moment of entry left an imprint on every cell and every chakra. Strong, well-aspected planets in your chart indicate chakras that are naturally vibrant and generous with their gifts. Challenged or suppressed planets indicate energy centres that may need more conscious attention, healing work, and compassionate awareness throughout your lifetime. Your chart is not your destiny — it is your invitation.
Do I need to know astrology to work with planetary chakra energies?
Not at all. While astrological knowledge deepens the practice, the most important tool you already possess: your own body awareness and intuition. Begin simply — notice which chakra feels most alive in you and which feels most contracted. Then read the corresponding planet and begin a relationship with those practices. The cosmos will meet you wherever you begin. Chakra balancing is fundamentally about intuition and connection, not intellectual mastery.
Is there a best time of day or year to work on specific chakras?
Yes. Ancient traditions prescribed specific planetary hours — each hour of the day is governed by a rotating sequence of planets. More accessibly: sunrise is ideal for solar work (Solar Plexus); the full Moon for heart work; the new Moon for root and grounding; Saturn's day (Saturday) for Third Eye practices. Seasonally, spring equinox supports the Root as new growth surges upward; summer solstice amplifies the Solar Plexus and Heart; autumn equinox deepens Throat and Third Eye awareness; winter solstice is the Crown's natural season of inner silence.
